Suncor's computers powered by the wind
Suncor Energy will allocate 5,000 MWh of electricity generated at its Magrath Wind Power Project in southern Alberta to offset the greenhouse gas emissions from 4,500 personal computers and laptops at its facilities in Alberta, Ontario and the US.
The allocation is part of a campaign by the Pembina Institute, an Alberta-based environmental organization, to have 20,000 computers in Canada powered by the wind by the end of 2005."
As a partner in two Canadian wind farms, we have long known the benefits of wind energy. Now, thanks to the Pembina Institute's innovative program, we are able to introduce some of those environmental benefits into every Suncor facility in Canada and the US," says the company’s Jim Provias. |
